As a caterer you have the responsibility to prepare and serve foods that are not only delicious but very safe as well. Therefore, here are a few safety food preparation and storage advice that you should employ.

First, hands must be washed before anything in the menu can be prepared. Next, do not wash different kinds of meat or vegetables together. This needs to be practiced in order to avoid food contamination hazards. Additionally, any ingredient that needs to be cleansed must be rinsed as thoroughly as possible. Aside from the ingredients, you also need to wash thoroughly all your needed kitchen utensils.

When it comes to cooking the food, ensure that they are heated properly so that any lingering bacteria in them die off. You should also be vigilant about keeping cooked foods separate from raw foods. It is ideal as well to use or serve the cooked foods immediately. If you need to set them aside for a while, be sure that you use the appropriate covers. If the meals need reheating, then by all means do so. As for storing the foods, it is also advisable to keep apart raw and cooked foods. By the way, certify as well that canned or bottled ingredients are used before their expiry dates.

Aside from all the above, it is also wise to keep your pets and little children away from your kitchen. Garbage must be disposed of properly and in a timely manner. Finally, make sure that the whole cooking area is cleaned properly before and after preparing foods.
